It may not be December yet, but the first advent Sunday. So today marks day one of my fishtailbraid adventcalender.

mit Clip-ins / with clip-ins
I start with a combinationbraid, a triple fishtail. A nice and intricate braid which has a big effect but in fact the only thing you really need for this braid is time. Like for all fishtailbraids but here you need it three times more.

Split your hair in the nape in three equal parts like for a regular braid. Then braid every strand to a fishtail, so that you end up with three fishtails which you now braid to a large combination braid. Secure the end of the big braid with an elastic and remove the elastics of the three single fishtails and you are done.

Fishtailsbraids often look very pretty when pancaked, but for this braid I prefer the tightly braided version as it is shiny and you see more of the pattern.

As today is the first day of the calender, I recommend the basic fishtailbraid tutorial from Nessa. On this technique all following braids are based.

In meinen Worten
In my words: Split your hair in two equal sections. From the left strand split a tiny strand from the outside and add it to the inside of the right big strand. Then so the same on the right side: split a tiny section of hair from the outside of the right strand and  add it to the inside of the left big strand. And so on: Ouside left to inside right, outside right to inside left. Try to pinch off the tiny strands rather than picking them. Piniching is easier and turns out more accurate. All small strands move over the big strands to come to the typical V-shape of the braiding pattern. If your braid the tiny strands under the big strand, than you braid the dutch version which leads to an A-shape.

Ladida. Daylight ir rare and was already rare, when I prepared the pics for this post.

Das nächste Türchen wartet am 1. Dezember auf euch.
The next door is waiting for you on December 1st.
